72 Hours in Chicago

After visiting Chicago for the first time, I’m juuuust about ready to pack up and move there.

Such a beautiful city…just wishing it wasn’t so dang windy and cold (I now see why they call it the windy city)!! My parents and I were in the city for just 72 hours, so we tried to get in AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE before leaving… and this is what we ended up with.

\\ Millenium Park \\

201 E Randolph St, Chicago, IL 60602

OF COURSE this was essential. Visiting the Bean has been on my bucket list for longer than I can remember, such a classic Chicago landmark. Obviously it was super crowded so it was kinda difficult to get a cool picture but we went back another night and it was much emptier.

Besides the Bean, there’s a lot more going on at Millennium Park. The Crown Fountain is SO unique and awesome. It’s an interactive art installation that actually has moving faces on the sides! At night it’s lit up from the inside with color changing lights… incredible.

\\ Sky Deck \\

233 S Wacker Dr, Chicago, IL 60606

My fear of heights may have prevented me from going to the Sky Deck if it were a few years back, but I wasn’t letting anything stop me from stepping out onto the clear platform! It’s 103 stories up the Willis Tower, which I learned is actually taller than the Eiffel Tower AND the Empire State Building… so pretty high up.

The views from the top are absolutely breathtaking, and I even got to meet a couple viewers up there which was awesome! We waited a half hour in line to get onto the deck, it was definitely worth it! Such unique pictures we got to take there… I just focused on not really looking down ahaha!

\\ Buckingham Fountain \\

301 S Columbus Dr, Chicago, IL 60605

We were walking around the gardens and ended up at this huge fountain, the Buckingham Fountain! It reminded me of the fountains in Italy, just so beautiful. I’m an avid ‘Shameless’ watcher and I had seen this fountain in one of the episodes which made me fangirl a bit (ok fine, I fangirled a lot).

\\ River Walk \\

355 Chicago Riverwalk, Chicago, IL 60601

The river that goes through the city is so unique and wonderful, one of the days we walked along the side for a few miles. If it were nicer outside I definitely think biking the path would have been so fun!

We ended up finding some tiki bar on our walk and stopped there for some drinks. There was live music and colorful lawn chairs… felt like Hawaii! Sitting with my fruity Mai Tai by the river made me so happy and so appreciative for my time visiting such a great city.

\\ Architecture Boat Tour \\

600 E Grand Ave, Chicago, IL 60611

Architecture Boat Tour

On our last full day in Chicago, my mom really wanted to do the architectural boat ride down the river. It was a 75 minute tour that went down the full river and explained the significance of all the different buildings. Super interesting, but just a little chilly!!!!

I will admit, besides hitting up some of these spots we also did A LOT of eating. Chicago has some DELICIOUS foods but that’s going to have to be it’s own blog post! There were so many spots we found that I can’t wait to share with you!!

Have you been to Chicago?? Where else would you recommend going for the next time I’m there?!
