San Francisco

Being a Tourist in San Francisco!

At the end of summer last year, my best friend and I went on a little girls trip to San Francisco! I had only been once, when I was 14 with my family, so I didn’t really remember much about it! Jill and I were determined to check out all the cool spots in the few days we had there… and I think we did a preettyyyy good job of it!

San Francisco is such a beautiful city, from the golden gate bridge to Alcatraz, there is always something to do!

Especially as a tourist! It’s extreeeemly hill-y there, so walking around you’re definitely going to get a nice workout! I was beyond excited to explore the city and see all of the cool tourist spots! The view from our hotel room was INSANE, we could see the whole city and we were definitely freaking out over it haha! We got changed into some warmer clothes, took some snapchats (of course) and we were out the door ready to see what kind of mischief we could cause (just kidding…mostly)!!

We started off our trip by hitting up the downtown area so we could do some shopping and see what it was like over there! It was already later in the afternoon so we thought it would be best to spend the rest of the day closer to the hotel and check out the other spots later! Downtown was awesome, I loved seeing the cable cars on the streets and they actually had some great stores too!

Day 2 got reaaaal touristy!

We started the day by getting brunch at this super cute cafe we had seen on Instagram! Got some cute lattes, then some GOOOOD food… we were so full! From there we called an uber to take us to a great viewing point of the Golden Gate bridge!! When I visited with my family we never really went to go see it, I think we just drove over it… which I guess is still cool but we wanted to fully appreciate it!!

The viewing point was just WOW, it looked so stunning and there was a little hike we could do to see the bridge from all different views! It was a nice little trail that eventually took us down near the water. It was easily one of my favorite parts of our trip, just such a classic touristy part of San Francisco.

We checked out some gift shops, then called an uber to another shopping area! Did some of that and then went back to the hotel to get changed for whatever we were going to do that night! As I said earlier, we had an UNREAL view from our hotel window and the sunset that night was just out of this world. We were FLIPPING out and needed to find a deck outside to be able to really take it all in, so we raaaan around the hotel trying to find somewhere before the sunset was over! We lucked out, managed to take some really awesome pictures, and I’m pretty sure we’ll never forget that sunset.

For dinner we went to Fishermans Wharf, unfortunately it was pretty dang cold out so we didn’t hang out around there that much.

Our last full day in SF was JAMMED PACK with activities! We started with brunch at another spot we found on instagram and we both got matching meals (this is no surprise for us!). Such a unique dish… an egg sandwich but in a croissant!! Soooo good! Though I do remember really hating my latte… it was NOT good lol.

From there we KNEW we needed to go see the painted ladies, so we hopped in an uber right from brunch!

I know they’re a super touristy thing to check out in SF, but if I’m being honest I was a little disappointed. The spot where everyone was taking pictures was all muddy and gross, and there was quite a bit of construction going on. You’re basically going there just for a few minutes to snap some pictures and then you’re done. Either way, glad we checked it out but I don’t see myself heading back any time soon!!

The rest of the day was spent in and out of ubers! Taking us to all the last spots we needed to check out before leaving! We found this incredible lookout at the top of some hill, it was supposed to have a swing but when we got there it looked like it had been cut down unfortunately. We had seen some pictures of the swing on yelp and it really looked like you were swinging on top of the world, but I guess I could see how it might’ve been pretty dangerous lol!

Then we went to the 16th Avenue Tiled Steps! We got dropped off at the top of the steps so we could only see it’s beauty once we got half way down them! It took awhile for me to actually get a good picture of it because there were so many people walking up it!

Both Jill & I really wanted to get a picture on one of the cable cars but were kind of nervous to take pictures on the outside of a moving vehicle! Lucky for us there was one stopped for servicing on our way to Ghirardelli square so we hopped on and hopped off before it took off again!

Last but certainly not least, to finish off the trip we went back to Fishermans Wharf to experience what it was like during the day!

It was definitely still freezing, but the sun helped warm us up a bunch! We grabbed some mexican food for lunch, and then saw signs for an “Infinite Mirror Maze” so obviously we were very intrigued and had to check it out! Guys… it was SO cool and incredibly trippy. We were constantly confused as to where we were going and it was definitely worth the $5 we spent on it (plus we got some pretty awesome pictures…even though I didn’t end up posting them anywhere until now!).

Such an amazing trip and I already cannot wait to go back (hopefully soon)!!
