Toronto Travel Guide

Welcome to my Toronto Travel Guide!

In case you didn’t know, Toronto is my hometown and I moved to sunny Los Angeles when I was 19. With that being said, I’ve been around the block quite a few times and thought I’d come up with a list of places to check out if you’re ever in the city!

I definitely recommend going in the spring – fall months, I pretty much avoid Toronto at all costs in the winter… it’s absolutely freezing. I’ve gotten way too spoiled with my beautiful California weather!

Anyway, LET’S BEGIN!

Of course, the CN Tower.

If you’re coming to Toronto, there’s no way of avoiding this thing. Nor should you WANT to avoid it. I haven’t gone to the top and stepped on the glass floor since I was a kid, but as a tourist I highly recommend going up!

There is also the ‘Edge Walk’ which wasn’t a thing while I was living there. You’re attached to a harness and are able to walk around the top of the tower! If you’re an adrenaline junkie it’s a must!

KENSINGTON MARKET

Kensington market is a multicultural neighborhood in downtown Toronto and perfect if you’re looking for somewhere to explore within a couple of hours. There is definitely a lot to do with all the different cafes and stores to shop at!
If you have an interest in people watching like I do, there’s definitely plenty! While we were there, my mom spotted a Belgian waffle spot that we had to stop at!

The Toronto Sign

Another classic tourist spot, the Toronto sign.

Not all that much to do here in the summer, just a quick photo op! Although in the winter, the fountain becomes a big skating rink!

GRAFFITI ALLEY

While thinking of spots to share for this travel guide, I came to realize that after all my years of living there I hadn’t visited the graffiti alley yet. Graffiti alley is basically a spot in between a great amount of buildings where spray painting is legal. People come to showcase their work and share their messages with everyone that visits.

I was pretty surprised to see how many people were there when I arrived. I felt like I was back in Los Angeles where it was completely casual to be posing in front of every single wall!

Super fun spot to check out if you’re into photography, graffiti, or are bored and just have nothing else to do! I’d love to go back with some friends and create our own little bit of art here. It’s located in Chinatown so afterwards you could spend some time in that neighborhood, there’s a lot of shopping and fresh markets!

Distillery District

The Distillery District is actually a super cute area! Tons of little shops and restaurants (a great mexican place called El Catrin that my parents constantly rave about). In the winter they have it set up super festive with lights and art installations! Highly recommend checking it out!

SHOPAHOLIC?

If you’re a fellow shopaholic, you’re probably gonna be on the hunt for good shopping in Toronto! Lucky for you, there is a TON of great shopping spots in the city. The Eaton Center is a historic mall that has pretty much every store you can think of or will ever need to visit. If it’s not inside the mall, it’ll be right across the street! The Eaton Center is located in downtown TO which is a great spot to hit up anyways.

There’s also Yorkdale, one of my all time favorite malls! Over the years there’s been a ton of construction on the mall and it’s seriously stunning. Everything is bright and open and it provides a great place to spend an afternoon! Besides the great stores, there are tons of amazing restaurants inside (Joeys, an INSANE foodcourt, and soon to be Cheesecake Factory..!!). If you’re Canadian, you understand the struggle of not having a Cheesecake Factory so it’s obviously very exciting to finally be getting one!

If you’re looking for higher end shopping, Yorkville has it all! Such a beautiful area, even if you’re not doing shopping it’s a great spot to visit on a nice sunny day!

AND THERE WE HAVE IT! My top spots to check out if you’re visiting Toronto!

Obviously there’s much more to Toronto than just this list of my top spots but it’s all I have for today!! I was in the city for just a few days and this was all I was able to squish in!

I will always love Toronto as it was the place I grew up, but now it’s just such a great place for me to visit! There’s so much great shopping and sight seeing to do while you’re there! If you ever go and happen to run into my parents, give them a big hug for me! 😛
