#nochella is real. In all honesty, I didn’t really care to go to Coachella… the lineup wasn’t so great and I just didn’t care lol. But then when weekend 1 came around and everyone started posting their pictures, I was like “well crap, I wish I was there”. The sad part is that I really only wished I was there FOR the pictures, aka basically why 85% of people go (which again, is sad).
So my boyfriend and I were scrolling through everyones pictures Saturday morning and decided we wanted some cool “Coachella” pictures too, without paying ridiculous amounts for a ticket! Living in LA, you can find tons of different environments by driving just a short distance! So we got in the car, drove around an hour north and ended up in the desert. It was the complete opposite direction of Coachella, but we got the scenery we wanted for our #nochella pics!
The destination we had on our GPS was for the Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve, which was STUNNING! I don’t think the poppies had fully bloomed yet, but they were everywhere!! All over the hills there were tons of other people taking pictures as well, so we felt less awkward about it lol! Everything about it was perfect, except the wind!! My hair was NOT loving it, to say the least. If only you could see the amount of pictures I ended up looking like a legit mop with my hair all over the place!!
It may seem kind of silly to drive all that way just to take pictures, but it was so much more than that! It was a perfect day to get outside and do something different than the normal day-to-day stuff we do! 80 degrees and sunny, what more could a girl ask for?! The drive itself was absolutely beautiful, so many hills and curves and little shops on the side of the road! It was such a cool adventure, we had our own music playing and we got to just enjoy it with each other. If there’s ever an opportunity to get up and explore your city, DO IT! It will always always alwaayyyys be worth it, no matter where you end up (unless it’s prison, don’t end up there).
