I Bought A House, Again!
Hello blog, long time no see! Sorry you’re always forgotten about lol. In case you’ve somehow missed a whole ton of my content, let me catch you up a bit!
September 2020 I came back to the city I grew up in, Toronto, after many months of isolation in LA! I didn’t intend on staying for longer than a couple months, but here we are 8 months later (crazy) and I have yet to go back! I felt so at home here again that I actually bought a house in the city!
When looking at homes to buy, I quickly realized how insanely expensive property was in Toronto (especially in the current market) and opted for a complete fixer upper! This house hadn’t been maintained in years and needed some serious updating! It looked like a huge project to take on but I had such a clear vision of how perfect this home could be for me, so I went for it!
I wanted to share some of my before pictures on the blog so we can all take a good look of where we started! Can’t wait to share the afters once it’s done!
KITCHEN + ENTRY
Suuuuper excited about this kitchen transformation, we’re breaking down the wall that divides the current kitchen & dining space to make it more open and give me more kitchen space!
MY BEDROOM + BATHROOM
I am personally not a fan of carpet in the bedrooms (or anywhere really), so this is all going to go! I typically like to have a TV in my bedroom, so we’ll also be expanding the wall opposite my bed to accommodate this! As for the bathroom, the current layout is perfectly fine and functional but could be nicer aesthetically so we’ll be moving some things around!
OFFICE + LANDINGS
Again, the carpet is a huge no for me! Carpet will be replaced with beautiful oak floors, and railings will be replaced with black iron! We’ll also be making some adjustments to the fireplace in the office!
GUEST BEDROOM + BATHROOM
This bathroom is the one that needed the most work; the current layout is not practical and the space could be much better used!
LIVING ROOM
The living room is actually what sold me on this house! I immediately saw so much potential and knew it was perfect for me! The big windows, high ceilings, and fireplace really did it for me! We’ll be converting this traditional fireplace into a linear gas fireplace which I think will be beautiful!
BASEMENT
Last but not least, the basement! It was basically one big room that stored the furnace & laundry - but was quite the eye sore IMO. We’re going to convert this into a completely separate furnace room, laundry nook & mini gym! Can’t wait to see how this all turns out!
That, my friends, is my new home!! I feel so grateful to have gotten this property and to be able to completely transform it to my liking! You can watch the YouTube series here where I’ve been documenting every step of this complete renovation!
Can’t wait to show you the AFTER pics when we wrap up this reno in the summer!!!
