Portofino, Italy

ITALY BLOG POSTS ARE HERE!!! In case you don't keep up with the rest of my social media platforms, I was just on a 9 day road trip through Italy. First stop...

Portofino.

We only had a day and a half here, so we had to make the most out of it despite the crazy jet lag!

As I said, the first day we were VERY jet lagged. Tired & hungry with nowhere to eat. We assumed it would be easy to find a pizza somewhere but by the time we checked into the hotel, it was their siesta time. Which basically means everything was closed until closer to dinner time.

We managed to find some pizza (probably after an hour and a half of searching!!), and we all passed out back at the hotel right afterwards! Needless to say, it was a LONG day.

Day two was significantly better!

After a decent sleep, we woke up to our first full day in Italy and were ready to take on Cinque Terre. Cinque Terre is basically these centuries-old seaside villages on the Italian Riviera coastline. There are 5 towns and we attempted the 10 (ish) mile hike to each of the villages!

This hike was no joke...

As a girl who isn't the most in shape, this was challenging. I wasn't fully prepared for how long and how tough this hike would be. Starting at the first village, it took us 3 hours to get to the next one. 3 hours UPHILL almost the entire time! That in itself is more exercise than I get in a MONTH.

When we finally made it to the first town, we stopped for some strawberries to refuel with some sugar. Then it was onwards to the next village. We were expecting an easier hike because we were told the first one was the hardest... that was incorrect. Equally if not just as hard as the first one, this also took us another 2 hours to complete. By the end of that hike, it had been 5 hours and we were told it was another 3 hours to the end... so we called it quits.

Post 5 hours of hiking uphill, we took the train to the last town for some dinner! A full pizza as our appetizer and we each had big bowls of pasta for our main course! Well deserved I'd say.

Each town was uniquely perfect and I wish we had more time to explore each spot! I guess I'll just have to go back ;)

Needless to say, by the time we got back to our hotel we were ready to crash! Such an exhausting but incredible day that I'll never forget! I pushed myself harder than I normally do and I'm so proud of how far I made it!

The next day we head out for the next destination of the trip...

Lake Como.

I'm beyond excited to share my pictures from Lake Como, but you'll just have to wait for the next post!!!! See you then, xo
